This local civil engineering consulting firm needed a website putting together quickly as a stop gap solution until time allows to fully build out their web presence. The site was built using WordPress and the Gutenberg blocks, meaning nearly all of the functionality is native to WordPress and requires fewer third party plugins.ย
The design is minimal and the functionality is basic. Fast-loading SVG icons supplied by a plugin and have been chosen to help represent each of the services on offer. WordPress is configured to auto update since there are so few plugins this site can be allowed to update its own software without manual intervention and without danger of outdated WordPress plugins causing problems.
Myself and the client spent some time discussing what it is the firm actually does and what the problem is that they solve. Paid stock imagery was sourced depicting flooding at Newark-on-Trent, which was used as the backdrop to the “hero” section.
When we build out the website with more pages, we will consider the funnel concept and the user journey, taking time to craft longer, more detailed messages about each of the services that speak to the website visitor and what it is they want/need from a civil engineering consultant.
As with all Ilkeston Web Design websites, Cloudflare has been added to serve as a layer of protection at the server level, as well as aggressively caching the website to improve load speed.
